There is no recovery period associated with a photofacial treatment. You may leave our office with your skin a little red and inflamed. This will subside naturally as the day continues — it can be concealed with cosmetics if wanted. Elan Med Spa and Clinic recommends patients apply a cream on the treated skin to minimize any irritation and speed healing. It also helps to take over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medicine to help ease swelling. After 2 – 5 days, the irregularities under the skin will come to the surface skin layers and then begin to flake off. It’s crucial to keep your skin protected with sunscreen at all times after an IPL treatment and to not pick at the flaking skin. While you should see some visible improvements after your first session, your complexion will attain ideal results with several IPL treatments. We recommend most patients get 3 – 6 sessions scheduled monthly in our office.
Once you start noticing darker spots, an uneven complexion, and veins on your skin, it may be time to schedule an appointment for an IPL treatment. We invite you to find out more about IPL photofacial treatments by contacting our office for a skin consultation with our team. With photofacial treatments at Elan Med Spa and Clinic, we can go deep within the layers of damaged skin to help create a youthful glow and a healthy complexion.
